Not really had much to update recently but in the last 24 hours there has been some activity. I have had contact with the council directly and I will hopefully be meeting with them in a few weeks time. I don't want to go into to much detail but it was a very positive response and I feel encouraged that people are listening. Then yesterday I got a tweet from TelfordLive asking if I had seen the Shropshire Star. I was at Newcastle Cycle Track at the time and the nearest place I could get a copy from was in Newport. Low and behold page 23 a lovely big feature about the petition. More importantly the official line from a Council spokesperson “At this point there are no fixed plans for the site in question and we will be considering all of these factors in the future master plan of the site.” No fixed plans! Music to our ears. I am also delighted to report that I had a meeting with Cllr Andrew Eade who is the leader of the Conservative group on T&WC. We had a very constructive meeting and he provided some great feedback and ideas of where we can go from here. He was happy for me to say he is publicly supporting this idea. He loves the idea of moving the Telford Sculpture to Southwater and wished he had thought of it. I have always wanted this to remain free from party politics but the declared support of both Conservative and Green politicians shows that for a common purpose we can put aside differences. I am a member of the Green Party. I have supported them for a couple of years after being a Labour voter for most my life. So you can see I am a bit of a "leftie" and for years I have wanted people of different political beliefs to work together on common ground. So in conclusion thank you for your support so far.
