Give the cast of departures (Scott Wilson, Justin Lukach and Andre Dupuis) an opportunity to provide a television show to your viewers that ACTUALLY follows your networks original purpose.

The Issue

Television networks have been slacking, puting out shows based solely on quantity of views they will obtain, opposed to the quality of television they provide.

This has led to these networks completly straying from their core competencies and in my opinion losing complete focus on their oriniginal goals. For example, TLC = The Learning Channel. So my question is, what is there to learn from Honey Boo Boo? What does Cellblock 6 Female Lock up teach us? How does women picking wedding dresses or bridemade dresses teach anything to the viewers? I can go on and on with these questions pertaining to each show on this network (my 600 lbs life, hoarders, extreme couponing etc...) None of which teaches anything to anyone, and only promotes negative attitudes or lifestyles.

The History Channel has done the same thing, even though they aren't as great of offenders as TLC and they do provide a number of shows that do have some historical value, they are still just as culpable. I took history classes all throughout Elementary School, High School, as well as a course in College. Not once, in any of those classes, was everything that ever happened directly associated with Aliens. As well the only thing historical about M.A.S.H. is that it was filmed many many years ago. It is a comedy... why is it on the history network?

Which brings me to the main point of this petition, if I would like to learn about different countries or cultures, why do I have to tune in to the Outdoor Life Network (OLN) to watch depatures, or if I want to learn about whats under the oceans, lakes or seas of the planet why do I have to watch Descending on OLN as well? Shouldn't these shows based on providing knowledge be on a network based on providing knowledge? I could say the same about history, should I not be able to see shows on the history channel that show people exploring historical sites, looking for information on their own opposed to just assuming it was aliens?

In conclusion, the reality of the situation is it is entirely up to us as viewers. Eight months ago Scott and Justin from departures did a UStream in which they made it abundantly clear that they would love to do another show. They said that they have approached different television networks and have been doing as much as they can...

So now it is our turn, it is time to take a stand against the crap we have been subjected to. Instead of just changing the channel or turning off the tv after the 1-2 hours of good programing, lets put our feet down, and start making demands.

A good starting point, and one that has less risk than just throwing money at the boys for a whole new show (even though they would deliver) is to ask for them to pick up Departures first season, and to gauge the response they get from the audience, and go from there.
