Asking TRAI to prohibit mobile network operators from running adverts during phone calls!

The Issue

Imagine: You are a woman walking down a dark, desolate road. You feel you are being followed and with good sense, you make a phone call to a friend or family member to let them know where you are and to ask them to come pick you up.

But instead of the familiar ring, you hear a 10-second advertisement from your network operator about the latest schemes and facilities.

Isn't it enough that the operator already bombards you with messages and spam calls daily, that they feel the need to sneak in an advertisement when you try to make an important call?
I don't know or care if some operators allow users to disable in-call advertisements. I believe they need to be off by default. We pay money for those calls.

What if the person making the call is your old father who is suddenly sick and needs help or your grandmother who has slipped and fell and can't get up? Ten seconds are too long to wait in such scenarios, sir and ma'am!

Hence, this petition to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).

TRAI has, in the past, listened to the public voice, the best example being the case of net neutrality.
