Tekken-SF
The Issue
To: Leadership and Executives at Capcom & Bandai Namco Entertainment
The Ask
We, the global fighting game community, are calling on Capcom and Bandai Namco to officially and permanently merge the Street Fighter and Tekken universes into a single, flagship 2D fighting franchise.
The Golden Age of Fighting Games is Now!
Fighting games have captivated audiences since the golden era of the arcades, but the ceiling has never been higher. The 2D fighter genre has immense, untapped growth potential. With major titles like Mortal Kombat and massive 2D fighter championships recently being nationally televised, the mainstream spotlight is already here. The broader video game industry continues to grow at a blistering pace, and to truly capitalize on this momentum, the genre needs colossal, unified competitors.
The "Big Three" Vision
To maximize the genre's reach and push the boundaries of competitive gaming, the fighting game space ideally needs three titan-level competing franchises, backed by three major industry heavyweights:
- Street Fighter + Tekken (Capcom / Bandai Namco)
- Killer Instinct (Microsoft / Activision Blizzard)
- Mortal Kombat (WarnerParamount)
Right now, the only thing preventing this ultimate competitive ecosystem is the division between Street Fighter and Tekken. By joining forces, Capcom and Bandai Namco can create the undisputed king of the fighting game community—a franchise massive enough to anchor the genre and compete on the highest possible entertainment level.
A Cultural and Competitive Juggernaut
A unified franchise would be more than just a game; it would be a cultural milestone that elevates the entire 2D fighting genre. For the Esports ecosystem, a combined circuit means unprecedented prize pools, deeper competitive storylines, and a unified competitive platform that commands even larger televised broadcast audiences. Beyond the screen, merging these iconic rosters would ignite the community, offering limitless creative combinations for the massive cosplay scene, fan artists, and content creators. Bringing these worlds together doesn't just create a bigger game—it solidifies fighting games as a premier, top-tier global entertainment property.
We Already Know It Works
This isn't a pipe dream—the groundwork has already been laid. Street Fighter X Tekken proved that these legendary rosters can collide beautifully. Furthermore, Akuma's seamless, lore-accurate integration into Tekken 7 showed exactly how perfectly these two worlds complement one another. The community demand for a true follow-up has never died. Instead of teasing crossovers or one-off guest appearances, it is time to build a fully unified, ongoing universe.
The Bottom Line
By merging the Street Fighter and Tekken franchises, Capcom and Bandai Namco can build an ultimate fighting game platform to best grow the genre.
