Teenage Pregnancy

As a young woman, I can truly feel how big an impact teenage pregnancy has on someone’s life. I have seen many girls my age who became mothers too early, and because of that, they were forced to give up their dreams. Being a parent is not an easy responsibility, especially when you are still young.

First, many young girls stop studying once they become pregnant. Instead of finishing school and reaching their goals, they are tied to heavy responsibilities at home. Without a diploma, it becomes harder for them to find good jobs, and they often end up trapped in poverty.

Second, teenage pregnancy also brings health risks. Young mothers face a higher chance of complications during pregnancy and childbirth. Their babies are also more likely to be weak, sickly, or born with low birth weight.

Third, the effect is not only on the girl herself but also on her family and the community. Families struggle to provide support for both the young mother and her child. The government also has to spend resources to help, which adds to the burden on society.

As a young woman, I am calling for attention to this issue. Schools must provide clear and comprehensive sex education to guide teenagers in making responsible decisions. Health services and counseling should also be more accessible so that young people can get the right information and support. Most importantly, parents should be open to talking with their children about these matters.

I believe that if young people, parents, teachers, and the government work together, we can prevent the rise of teenage pregnancy. It is time to protect the dreams of young women like me and give every youth the chance to build a brighter future.
