Dismiss Kim Kelly from Teen Vogue

The Issue

Teen Vogue columnist Kim Kelly recently endorsed domestic terrorism on her Twitter feed. Kelly, a self-proclaimed socialist, praised the actions of Willem Van Spronsen, a member of Antifa who attacked law enforcement officers at an immigration detention center in Tacoma, Washington, on July 13. Mr. Van Spronsen threw multiple incendiary devices at the police, engulfing a patrol car. He also failed to ignite a large propane tank before being shot to death by the officers.

Kim Kelly publicly endorsed the actions with a post on Twitter, stating, "As Van Spronsen & the many other heroic comrades before him have made clear, there are many ways to fight back against a violent fascist regime".

While Ms. Kelly's Twitter feed is no longer viewable to the public, this content was reported by Tucker Carlson of Fox News and can be referenced accordingly.

This type of rhetoric that endorses both violence and domestic terrorism is irresponsible and immoral. What Ms. Kelly considers heroic is tantamount to endorsing any of the other number of atrocious mass shootings that has kept our nation in a state of fear.

We call upon Teen Vogue and their parent publisher Condé Nast to condemn Kim Kelly's comments and dismiss her from this publication. Her message is dangerous by any standard, but the idea that she is writing in a publication aimed at adolescents is alarming and inappropriate.

Teen Vogue, please address this matter with propriety and responsibility, and dismiss Kim Kelly from your roster immediately.
