I have experienced how our justice system doesn't help protect children that are a known target of a pedophile. When we experienced this with our child we were told by the district attorney's office their hands were tied until something actually happened. That even though there was justfiable proof that a pedophile had made our daughter his target until he acted on it with her nothing could be done. It did not matter that he visited her school, told us we couldn't keep him from her school, that he had a right to her, or that he stalked our home. He hadn't touched her so nothing could be done.

I am starting this petition in hopes to raise awareness of how our system isn't proactive in this area. They are only reactive. A reaction in this case may be too late to save a child. They could die or have to experience a real life nightmare just because our justice system has tied hands in this area. We owe our vulnerable children more than this.

I never want another family to feel helpless when their child has a known predator. Families need to know that measures will be taken against the predator that fit accordingly to their actions. They shouldn't have to wait until the worst happens. There should be laws where protective measures can be taken by the authorities. We couldn't even get a protective order because he hadn't physically touched her yet. Laws need to change so potential victims are protected, not an open target to the known predator. Many children can be saved with these changes.
