Hi all, Some sad news. Today Yasushi Tani, official social media guy for the Dead or Alive Game Facebook page, responded to a question about a possible western release for DOAX3 with the claim that the game will not be released in the west and that there are no plans to change this stance in the future. A follow-up post claimed that this is due to western sensitivity over how women are "treated" in the videogame industry. You can read about this here: http://www.destructoid.com/plans-to-localize-dead-or-alive-xtreme-3-in-the-west-may-be-doa-322327.phtml Personally, I find this very sad and also somewhat illogical. Koei Tecmo appear to have capitulated to media sensationalism in fear that they will receive bad publicity in relation to the game. Some might say that the figurehead for this movement has been exposed as a con artist who is happy to take situations out of context in order to further her agenda, and that to base your strategic corporate decisions on a vocal minority, ignoring the proven market for the game, is fairly foolish. Most confusing to me, though, is the belief that by not releasing the game in the west, somehow western media outlets will be unaware of the game's existence. Once the game is released in Japan and Asia there will be as much coverage of the game in the west as there would have been had it been granted a release in these regions (except, I would imagine, for fewer reviews). The game is still being made. The media sources which were primed to poke fun and cry faux outrage over the game's existence are still going to do it regardless. Not giving the game a worldwide release isn't going to change this. The only difference now is that they can also mock Koei Tecmo for not having the balls to even release their own game. I hope Koei Tecmo will reconsider this apparent decision. In fact, since this news broke today we have received almost 100 new signatures, so this just shows the opposition to this stance. I don't believe anything is set in stone, especially since this is only a Facebook post from a community manager and not an official press release, and at the end of the day money talks the loudest. For this reason, please continue to SHARE the petition as widely as you can - the short URL is http://chn.ge/1Iwi1sC Of course, if DOAX3 is not released worldwide then the only option will be to import, but if you want the game in English you would need to import the Asian version, create an Asian PSN account and keep it topped up with Asian PSN credit somehow in order to purchase DLC. We shouldn't have to do this. To quote Rig, "Don't spoil all my fun." Fight on!
