SAVE OUR TEACHER'S JOBS AND LIFES
The Issue
Dear NISD Board,
COVID-19 has affected us all--some more than others, it is your job to do what is best for your students, staff members, and community, yet you have failed miserably to do what is ETHICAL for your least disposable asset, your employees. There are hundreds of teachers in your district being THREATENED to go back to school in-person with some having DEADLY MEDICAL CONDITIONS if they get COVID-19. You are putting their lives at risk making them take medical leave and THREATENING to have teachers lose their position at their schools. WE UNDERSTAND that as students go back to school in-person there needs to be people watching them, but guess what INSTRUCTION IS STILL TAKING PLACE THROUGH ZOOM. A district with over 20,000 Staff members has the man-power to allow those who are at EXTREMELY HIGH RISK OF DYING FROM COIVD to stay home and protect themselves. You think it is acceptable to REPLACE highly qualified teachers with LESS QUALIFIED SUBSTITUTE TEACHER WITH FEWER YEARS OF EXPERIENCE. They shouldn't have to go back until a vaccine is made. A district of this size should be understanding and should be wanting to keep their employees safe, paid, and treated with respect. SHAME ON YOU for making quite frankly the worst decisions in your life!
