PANDAS (Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal), is a form of autoimmune encephalitis (brain inflammation) activated by streptococcal (strep). Other infections (like Lyme Disease), can also play a factor in both PANS/PANDAS.

PANDAS is still not well understood due to its rarity, complexity; and became recognized as a conditon a-little over 2 decades ago.

Patients often struggle with various neuropsychiatric symptoms for YEARS before diagnosis, due to PANDAS mimicking many psychiatric disorders.

Early detection and preventative medicine can make a HUGE impact on a patients prognosis. Unfortunately, some patients have taken their own life, or died from this condition itself due to delay of diagnosis, and not being able to access life changing treatments (one of them being IVIG infusions).

Currently, this disorder is not apart of most medical schools’s curriculums across the U.S. Through signing this petition- YOU are helping raise awareness for PANDAS, and are sparking change for further conversations to be had, and improvements to be made in a PANDAS patients care.
