However, the Gisborne District Council commissioned Carved Pou at Kelvin Park Gisborne, for only 6 of the 7 named Iwi.

This petition seeks to resolve the perceptions of prejudice by respectfully requesting: 

1. That the Gisborne District Council commission Carved Pou to equally acknowledge the contributions of Te Aitanga-a-Hauiti Iwi to C Company and,

2. That for Cultural Integrity, the Carved Pou are to stand in Ūawa near the Soldiers Memorial Gates and,

3. That the leading carver acknowledges whakapapa to Te Aitanga-a-Hauiti Iwi.
