Taylor Swift: Explain your lyric "talk real slow/'cause it's late & your momma don't know"
The Issue
Dear Taylor Swift,
Your single "Our Song" (2007) includes the following line:
When we’re on the phone and you talk real slow
’Cause it’s late and your momma don’t know
We call on you to immediately address what this lyric means.
When you wrote "Our Song", did you believe that talking slow makes you hard to hear? Do you still believe this? Or were you just trying to rhyme something with "know"? And in that case, why didn't you choose the word "low"?
It has been 10 years, and we're still no closer to an answer. Please address this immediately so that we can have closure and move on with our lives.
