We the people want to get the attention of the IRS commissioner Charles Rettig. Recently, you said that you hoped to get through the backlog of filers for 2020 by summer. This is simply unacceptable. Most of us were relying on this money as well as the stimulus money to help us get through the next couple months. Not to mention people who need it to pay their bills now and without refunds being processed there are thousands who will have their stimulus checks sent to the wrong bank or wrong addresses. When we call the IRS phone number for help, we get less than that. We have had people who lie just to get us off the lines or who are horribly rude. They have been less than helpful when we just want answers. We have only received silence up until this point from you and then we find out we still have to wait until summer. We understand you are short staffed and we understand you are behind. But you need to understand there are some people that don’t have a job, that don’t have a choice. And they are on the losing end of this. Pay attention. Do better.
