Taunton’s Road side infrastructure is a disgrace

If we want people to choose the bus, we must first show them they matter.

Bus passengers across Taunton are being let down by neglected roadside infrastructure.

Damaged shelters at Staplegrove and the Crematorium. Graffiti-covered shelters at Ladymead Road, Cresswell Avenue and Bathpool. Missing roofs and broken glass at Lisieux Way and Nerrols Farm. Faded timetable displays and shelters that have been reported time and time again without action.

For many people, the bus is not a choice – it is their only means of getting to work, education, healthcare appointments and shopping. Yet they are expected to wait in facilities that are often dirty, damaged and unfit for purpose.

This sends entirely the wrong message. It says that bus passengers do not matter.

We believe bus users deserve safe, clean and welcoming waiting facilities, and we are calling on Somerset Council to undertake an urgent programme of repairs, maintenance and improvements across Taunton’s bus network.

Please sign our petition and help us send a clear message: bus passengers deserve better.

Every signature strengthens our case. Every signature shows that our community cares about public transport. Every signature helps us demand the improvements that passengers have been waiting far too long to see.
