Protect Tassie farmers and foresters from workplace invasions

The issue

The jobs and lives of Tasmanians are threatened by activists who appear to be set on putting workers in harm’s way.  It is important, now more than ever, for the Tasmanian Parliament to pass beefed-up protections included in the Workplace Protections Bill. These changes will ensure the safety of workers in primary industries and protect their livelihoods.

Over the past two years there has been a rise in farm, forestry and mining invasions by activists.  These activists are determined to ruin the livelihoods of farmers, foresters and miners across the country, despite the fact they contribute greatly to our economy and local communities.

Tasmania is behind the rest of the nation when it comes to protecting workers from dangerous activists. New South Wales and Queensland have both passed laws targeting farm invaders with fines and potential prison time.  Other states are reviewing their laws or have shown support in changing them.  Tasmania must do the same.

I’m launching this petition to strengthen Tasmania’s Workplace Protection laws and I want your support.
