Save the Anclote 74 Acre Ecosystem / Tarpon Springs

The Issue

Tarpon Springs Elected Officials

Please preserve the entire 74 Acre Anclote Ecosystem that is adjacent to Pinellas County’s “Anclote Islands Management Area”

Concerned Citizens of Tarpon Springs and Friends of the Anclote River request the appeal of the Tarpon Springs Board of Commissioners approval of the rezoning and development of a 404-unit apartment complex on 74 pristine acres of environmentally sensitive land along the Anclote River in Tarpon Springs.

These 74 acres in Tarpon Springs, Florida along the Anclote River leading to the Gulf of Mexico are home to endangered eagles, gopher tortoises, shore birds, and endangered native plant species

It is our purpose to have the City of Tarpon Springs allow citizens to raise funds and apply for grants for Tarpon Springs to purchase the acreage for conservation and parkland for the enjoyment of future generations.  We want people to be able to visit, walk through, enjoy, exercise at, and kayak alongside the entire 74 acres.  We do not want the pristine environmentally sensitive land to be destroyed, cleared, filled, concrete-paved, nor built upon.  Please do not let that happen.  If that happens, it can never be replaced.
