Recently Target announced the removal of GTA V from their shelves due to the misrepresentation of the game by a petition on change.org by people interested in pushing a narrative that does not exist in the game.

First the game does not target women, all races and genders are equally targetable and no killing of women is actually required to complete the game, this killing is completely optional and does nothing to perpetuate violence against women and completely ignores the hundreds of men killed for every woman as part of the story.

All court cases that have tired to push the narrative that games cause violent behaviour have been thrown out of court and statistics showing the reduction in crime rates equaly to the rise in videogame sales are quite easy to find (see below article)

Recent studies have shown the gap in gender of videogame players to be miniscuel, stating these games are grooming men to be voilent is no more than a tool to aid in the censorship of a videogame when - once again the videogame causes violence argument has been thrown out of court many times.

You would have quite a lot of trouble finding a game that actually perpetuates violence against women when in the majority of games all killible enemies are male and the killing of npc's is optional and nowhere in the GTA V game is there sexual or sexualised violence of any kind.

The onus is on parents not to buy the games for thier children if they are not fans of the content, not for companies to remove the option for everyone, restock the shelves target

Another note to target, if your staff had looked at the original petition you would notice past that signature number, the comments are filled with people arguing against the censorship of the game.

Please put ethics before false accusations of sexual violence, sexual exploitation or the abuse of women as ‘entertainment’. and make a strong statement that you do not condone the censorship of art.
