Ever since their introduction in 2005, the ClearRX™ pharmacy bottles utilized by Target Pharmacy have been a boon to the many guests who fill their prescriptions at Target. The flat labels make it easy to read medication information and dosing instructions at a glance without having to turn the bottle. In fact, with the medication name and strength imprinted on the top of the bottle, it was easy to store multiple pill bottles in a drawer and readily find the right one without picking up a single bottle. The bottles also come with color-coded rings, with each color identifying a different member of a particular household. As anyone who has to take multiple medications knows, taking the right medication at the right time is crucial to treatment efficacy and can prevent dangerous and sometimes lethal mistakes.
Now that CVS/pharmacy is taking over Target's pharmacy business, it has become evident that ClearRX™ is being dumped in favor of CVS's generic amber vials. We, the undersigned, agree that this move is a giant step backward for functionality and medication safety. According to Target, CVS/pharmacy is now in possession of all equipment and intellectual property of Target Pharmacy, including ClearRX™. CVS has the means to continue ClearRX™, but it is unclear whether they have the inclination to do so. We encourage you to maintain ClearRX™, and since Target pharmacy customers will be able to pick up and refill their medications at any CVS/pharmacy, please consider implementing ClearRX™ at all CVS/pharmacy locations.
