Tampa Heights DEMANDS solutions to the numerous issues resulting from homelessness, NOW!!!

The residents of Tampa Heights stand united in our commitment to help and improve the issues surrounding homelessness in our neighborhood and have many volunteers that are ready, willing and able to do their part. However, as a neighborhood, we are no longer willing to accept this unfortunate situation being swept under the rug by City and County Leaders.

Tampa Heights is “ground zero” for Homeless Social Services and the resulting large population of Homeless in the areas surrounding Waterworks & Phil Bourquardez Parks, Franklin Street and Florida Avenue (Between 275 and Palm Ave), within and the surrounding area of The Good Samaritan Inn is unacceptable and will no longer be tolerated. This out of control epidemic creates numerous unacceptable health, public safety and welfare issues for our residents as well as the homeless population that need to be addressed immediately, including and not limited to:

- Blatant and obvious use and sale of illegal drugs.
- Open Container/Public Intoxication violations
- Littering
- Loitering and Panhandling
- Public Indecency/Public Urination/Public Defecation
- Unpermitted Feedings/Health Violations
- Thefts/Burglary/Break-In's/Trespassing

As a resident of Tampa Heights, I demand that the Mayor’s Office, City Council and Police Department, County Commission and Hillsborough County Sheriff's Department take immediate action to address and improve the numerous and widespread issues resulting from the high concentration of homeless people in Tampa Heights.
