The City Council has approved over 3000 apartments South of Gandy(SOG) /West of Dale Mabry since 2016 when the City's Comprehensive Plan (Comp Plan) was created.  The Comp Plan projected a population of 78k, but in April 2019 South Tampa already had more than 91k residents (Plan Hillsborought)!  

South of Gandy is unique in that we have 22k people traveling to work at Macdill AFB daily (Macdill Economic Impact statement 2017).  Macdill is an economic hub for the city but with this population increase in the last couple of years we've seen a significant impact on the time travel times in SOG.  We have no room to expand roads, we have no room to grow wider.  Our roads grow more dangerous daily, so much so that FDOT 164-20014 has proposed to tear up all of the medians put in place in 2017 at the cost of over $1million!  

Hurricane evacuation can be severely limited by the additional population.  Natural disasters aren't the only reason to evacuate this area.  Matters of national security directly impact all those living at the dead end of this peninsula.  We don't want to be DEAD in the end!
