Hedgehogs are illegal to own in California by default. This is simply because they are not on the states list of legal to own, therefore by default are illegal. Californias warm climate is perfect for hedgies. Guinea pigs, hamsters, rats, mice etc are on the list but not Hedgehogs which are delightful little pets and easy to care for as well. Unlike many on the list, they are hypoallergenic, friendly, very quiet and clean.
