Stop Tameside Council's plans to Bin Swap the general waste bin to the smaller green bin
The Issue
There are changes to Tameside residents bin collection service. The council are asking everyone to swap their black bin to their green bin.
If you have a small family you will already know the extent of your full general waste bin which is collected every 2 weeks. This will now be reduced to the smaller green bin. It's ludicrous of the council to ask this of people. After presenting this issue on Andrew Gwynne's Facebook page, it's is quite evident of residents concerns, with people who were a part of the pilot scheme expressing their issues with it.
We intend to gather more information regarding this piloting scheme including where the pilot scheme was held and the type of residents I.e. Elderly areas, flats/maisonettes, small families etc. we also want to ascertain the overall feedback from the pilot scheme and weigh up whether it actually is something residents wanted and found to be successful.
If you are a Tameside resident, that already finds it hard fitting all their waste in the correct bins, that knows this new scheme will not be beneficial them please share and sign this petition. We have already heard from people from the pilot scheme that are having to personally make trips to the tip with excess waste that does not fit in their green bin. Why does council tax increase if we do their work for them in recycling, yet now have to suffer with space to do so. This is not a good deal for Tameside residents.
If anything we can present the findings of this petition to the council leaders and find a much more constructive solution.
