Council Member, Tamara Paltin needs our help to shut down the construction of Greg Brown’s Monster “Hotel” in Napili.

Tamara told me early on that watching the massive structure go up was breaking her heart. 

Napili Bay is in her district and she is the Chair of the Council’s Planning Committee, so I’ve been wondering why Tamara has been uncharacteristically silent about it for the past 7 months, doing nothing really to protect her community.

Now I know why: Multiple sources have confirmed that Moana Lutuey, The Director of Corporation Counsel, has been actively intimidating Council Members AND the staffs of Planning AND Public Works to ensure Brown gets away with multiple violations and misrepresentations that would otherwise shut his construction down. Planning Director McLean has stated that she wishes Brown’s permit was never issued, yet construction continues.

Why? Well, does it surprise you that Greg Brown’s attorney, Jeffrey Ueoka, only recently went to work for the law firm of Mancini, Welch, and Geiger after leaving his job working for Moana Lutey at Corporation Counsel?

Yes, the good ol' boys are at it again, but this time we have them red-handed.

Greg Brown pushed the abuse too far and last week was finally noticed for multiple violations, including grading violations that cannot be amended without tearing down what he’s built. What a great spot for a park with public restrooms so beachgoers can stop using Napili Bay as their toilet!

Corporation Counsel’s intimidation is their way of protecting Greg Brown from the fate he deserves for all his misrepresentations and violations.  We’ve seen it before, even Mayor Mike Victorino has recounted to me personally how as a Council Member he was intimidated into inaction by then Corporation Counsel Pat Wong.

It’s happening now too, but with your support, we can break Moana Lutey’s unclean manipulation of governmental policy in Maui County, at Greg Brown’s monster house, and hopefully in the Injection Well debacle too.   

All Tamara has to do to shut Greg Brown down is get a legal opinion as to whether under the Maui County Code an applicant filing for an SMA permit in the "Residential Category of the Napili District" must actually build according to "Residential Building Standards"?

Brown filed as a Single-family Home and is instead building using Hotel standards.

Tamara needs to know that the community wanting Brown's project to be shut down is justified AND that we have her back so she can stand up to Moana Lutey's intimidation.
