Tall people like to buy clothes like everyone else. In store as well as online.
The Issue
Tall women and men are regularly made to feel out of place in society, just for being tall. Shops are inadvertently making this even more so by not catering to tall people's needs. By tall I mean anyone who isn't able to wear regular fitting clothes.
Not only do many stores not stock anything but those that do have a 'tall' range will have it online only and with a much smaller selection than other specialist ranges such as 'petite', 'maternity' and plus size. If you happen to need 'tall' with another range then the selection is even further reduced if it even exists!
If stores were to do further customer based research as to the requirements from their customers then both businesses and customers will benefit. As a plus it would also mean that those who are taller than average can feel like they are an equally thought of customer instead of an afterthought which would go a long way to helping boost people who are quite often dealing with low confidence already.
As someone who is classed as tall in clothing ranges but is by no means very tall (I am a six foot tall female who requires a 36" inside leg. Having recently been pregnant and given birth the last 6 months of trying to find clothing has been a thoroughly depressing time.) At six foot tall I am by no means unusually tall but on the rare occasion I venture into a store to attempt to find clothes I feel like a freak.
As part of groups of people who are taller than the average it would appear I am by no means alone in feeling like this.
