Take Haitian celebrations from politicians in Irvington

The Issue

L

For over a decade, the Haitian Independence and Flag Day celebrations in Essex County have been increasingly hijacked by politicians. A group of Haitian leaders has used these events to further their own political agendas, often in collaboration with individuals who are not part of our community. This has led to the marginalization of the many dedicated Haitian leaders who are actively working to support the Haitian community in Irvington, Essex, and Union counties.

It is time for us to put an end to this nonsense and ensure that these celebrations truly honor the spirit and the people of Haiti. We must come together to reclaim these important cultural milestones and focus on what is best for the Haitian community here.
