take away the Magnetic Phone Pockets in schools (Friendswood High School)

take away the Magnetic Phone Pockets in schools (Friendswood High School)
The Issue
As a student deeply concerned about my safety and the uninterrupted communication with my loved ones, I am initiating this petition against the restrictive measure of magnetic phone pockets in our educational institutions. One of the pivotal roles of technology in our lives, particularly mobile phones, is the instantaneous connectivity it allows us. In the unfortunate event of an emergency situation, our phone serves as our first resort to update and reassure our family and friends of our safety, and it feels frightening that this basic means of communication could be hindered.
It's also significant to note that mobile phones are not solely for entertainment purposes in our academic environment. They are, in fact, utilized as effective educational tools in several classes. A 2020 study from the Institute of Education Sciences found that 96% of teachers use technology in the classroom, including mobile devices that provide access to digital resources that enhance learning experiences (IES, 2020).
This is a school, not a prison. Our personal belongings, particularly our phones, should not be unduly controlled. The school does not possess ownership over our personal devices and, by extension, our personal experiences. The restrictions on magnetic phone pockets need to be reconsidered, with the understanding of their educational utility, and their crucial role in maintaining contact during the eventuality of emergencies. Let's voice our concerns for uninterrupted communication and safety. Sign the petition and support the recall of magnetic phone pocket restrictions.
