My concern for the safety and well-being of Great Barford is deeply personal. I have watched over recent years, especially since the COVID-19 pandemic, as our peaceful village has become plagued by a worrying increase in public safety and anti-social behaviour issues. Like so many others here, I fear that if we don't take decisive action now, someone could be seriously injured, or worse.

Great Barford should be a safe, welcoming, and pleasant place for all - residents, visitors, families, and future generations alike. However, issues ranging from vandalism to noise disturbances, and other forms of anti-social behaviour are now threatening the serenity and reputation of our beloved village.

Unfortunately, the challenges don't end there. Environmental concerns, such as careless littering and the neglect of public spaces, compound the problems we face. These issues not only mar the natural beauty of Great Barford but can also contribute to an even greater sense of insecurity.

We call upon Bedford Borough Council, partner agencies, and all relevant authorities to join forces and implement a comprehensive plan to address these pressing concerns.

In addition, we advocate for the establishment of a dedicated community liaison officer to ensure open, ongoing dialogue between residents and authorities, thereby fostering cooperative and sustained efforts to maintain public safety and deter anti-social behaviour.
