Taiwan's poultry's industry has suffered a humiliating international backlash just as it seeks to gain access to the EU, with the international community condemning its use of cruelty to the poultry animals. 

The fact that is happening in Taiwan's farms are ducks and chickens are put in tiny barren cages in lack of water and nutrition, which is essential to maintain their health. Also spaces are needed for them to prevent chickens and ducks from diseases infection and abnormal stereotypic behaviors. When the infection spreading, what usually happen is the farm owner will kill the chickens that are infected. 

1.5 million EU citizens have called for a ban on cages in the EU, demonstrating the strength of public opinion on this issue. Any ban on cages should thus become a requirement for those exporting to the EU, including Taiwanese poultry producers. EU will continue to actively press for a ban of cruelty in Europe. In this case, it would ensure that more trade in poultry products between the EU and Taiwan does not negatively impact the animals and the planet.

We are calling on consumers to sign this petition in order to force the industry of poultry products to stop turning a blind eye to the misery endured by these intelligent, sociable creatures.
