Taco John’s: Stop abusing animals!

The Issue

    Animal abuse is unacceptable!
Taco John’s has been exposed in the 2024 Eggspose.

As a Taco John’s customer, I am disappointed that Taco John’s is falling behind when it comes to the treatment of egg-laying hens. I will no longer support Taco John’s over other fast food,  like McDonald's or Taco Bell.

Taco John’s pledged in 2016 to go cage-free by 2025. They have since removed their policy and have never reported progress. Deceiving customers is unacceptable.

Taco Bell has been cage-free since 2016, and Del Taco recently reported sourcing 100% cage-free. Why is Taco John’s lagging behind? Does Taco John's care about the health and safety of its customers?  Does Taco John's care about animal abuse?

Hens on battery-cage farms are kept in disgusting cages, so small that they cannot even spread their wings. Each hen is unable to engage in simple, natural behaviors like dust-bathing, nesting, and perching. She will never experience the warmth of the sun on her body or the cool grass beneath her feet. Instead, she will suffer psychological distress and physical ailments, living an unnaturally short life. She will live her entire life in a space the size of an ipad.

Taco John’s has 365 locations across 23 states. They are ranked the #111th biggest US restaurant brand by annual sales. They have many menu items which feature eggs. This is a very large number of egg-laying hens.

Battery cage-farms are an extreme form of animal cruelty.
It is time for Taco John's to publicly report their cage-free egg progress!

We are asking Taco John’s to publish a cage-free egg policy, to publicly report its cage-free progress, and to share 2024 benchmark goal/plans for achieving 100% cage-free.
