We, the teachers, parents, students and staff of 28th St. Elementary School, have recently been informed that Synergy Charter Academy has been offered, by LAUSD, space on our campus so they can expand their co-location next school year. We are extremely worried and concerned about the negative impacts it will have on our school community. The impact it will have mainly on our students is unprecedented. The 28th St School Community, on behalf of our students, demand Synergy Charter Academy to stop its expansion into our school. 

If this co-location happens, 28th Street Elementary is in danger of losing full and adequate access of our:

• Playground
• Computer Lab
• Rooms for tutoring
• Rooms for LA’s Best
• Valet Drop Off
• Ready Set-Go Room
• Primary Promise Room
• Intervention Rooms
• Garden
• Bathrooms
• Library
• Auditorium
• Parent Center and representative
• Space for services provided by our Psychologist, Speech Therapist, RSP, PSW, SSS Student Counselor
• Cafeteria space and staff

In addition to all of the above, if Synergy Charter Academy co-locates at our school:

• Having a clean learning environment will be seriously affected because there will be more students and staff and NO additional custodians.
• Having more student means, car traffic will increase during drop-off and pick-up time. Therefore, the safety of our students will be compromised.
• Having two schools with different behavior and discipline policies will create confusion on which policy to follow. This will bring about more behavior and emotional challenges to our students. 

28th Street Elementary School welcomes all types of learners. Our caring and dedicated staff embraces families with diverse backgrounds. Everyday we work hard to prepare our students to be college and career ready. If Synergy Charter Academy comes and takes away the essentials that we need to give our students a fair and equitable education, their future will be seriously compromised. 

Our students deserve more resources, NOT less. Students at 28th Street Elementary have already faced educational injustices.

Synergy Charter Academy, respect our school community and do not co-locate at our school.

Nosotros, los maestros, estudiantes, personal y comunidad de la escuela primaria calle 28 nos hemos enterado recientemente que, el distrito escolar, le ofreció a Synergy Charter Academy espacio en nuestra escuela para expanderse abriendo un nuevo plantel educativo en nuestra ubicación el próximo año escolar. Estamos extremadamente consternados por esta decisión y preocupados por el efecto negativo que esto ocacionará en nuestra comunidad escolar. El impacto que tendrá, especialmente en nuestros estudiantes, es inaudito. En representación de nuestros estudiantes, la comunidad de la escuela calle 28 exige a Synergy Charter Academy cese esta decisión insensata que se planea llevar acabo en nuestra escuela.

• el auditorio
• salón de padres y su representante
• espacio para servicios de nuestra sicóloga, terapeuta del   habla, RSP, PSW, el consejero de estudiantes SSS
• la cafetería y su personal

Aparte de las cosas anteriormente mensionadas, si Synergy Charter Academy se establece en nuestra escuela:

• El tener un plantel limpio sería seriamente afectado, ya que habría más estudiantes y personal pero NO tendríamos más conserjes.
• Al tener más estudiantes, ocacionaría más tráfico a la hora de traer y recoger a sus hijos. Por esta razón, la seguridad de nuestros estudiantes estaría seriamente comprometida.
• Tener dos escuelas con diferentes normas/reglas de comportamiento y diciplina, crearía confusión sobre cuál poliza seguir. Esto traería más retos de comportamiento y desafíos emocionales a nuestros alumnos.

La escuela calle 28 acepta a todo tipo de estudiantado. Nuestro personal dedicado y amable acepta a familias diversas. Cada día trabajamos arduamente para preparar a nuestros estudiantes a que en un futuro asistan a una universidad o escuela vocacional. Si Synergy Charter Academy entra a nuestra escuela y nos quita recursos necesarios para darles una educación justa y equitativa, el futuro de nuestros estudiantes sería seriamente afectado.

Nuestros estudiantes merecen más recursos, NO menos. Los estudiantes de nuestra escuela ya han sufrido injusticias educativas. Synergy Charter Academy, respeta nuestra comunidad escolar y no invadas nuestro plantel.
