The issue

Sydney City Council are proposing a new code of conduct for personal trainers who use the beautiful parks within their borders. While the code of conduct is a fantastic idea, there is one section of it that will be of great impact on the abilities of small businesses to provide the best possible practices to give their clients the health and fitness benefits they desire. They are proposing to ban the use any weight bearing equipment which will include dumbbells, barbells, kettlebells, and ropes. These things, when used correctly and respect is given to council property and the safety of others, are amazing tools for trainers to help clients increase strength, bone density, and a huge number of other health benefits. From a personal perspective, this ban will have a major impact on my business as resistance training is what we do. I've witnessed hundreds of clients achieve incredible positive changes in their lives through resistance training and would like to see that continue. Trainers who use the Sydney City Council parks are incredibly lucky to have access to them and that is hugely appreciated, but this section of policy will have huge implications on many small businesses and could lead to business closures and the health and fitness of thousands of people suffer. Your help is greatly appreciated.
