Southwestern physicians supporting in school masking
Southwestern physicians supporting in school masking
I started this as a parent with children in school in The Peters Township School District this fall to prepare for the coming school year. My intention is for this to be signed by physicians in SWPA to be used in any SWPA district.
COVID cases have surged in Allegheny county and Washington County typically follows just behind.
According to Pittsburgh’s Action 4 News, “The CDC recommends mask wearing indoors for unvaccinated and vaccinated people living in areas with high transmission. Allegheny County just moved to the substantial level of community transmission”.
The American Academy of Pediatrics and Association of American Medical Colleges recommends masks despite vaccination status.
It is the responsibility of School Districts to do what is best for our children. Right now, that is wearing a mask at all times to help prevent the further spread of COVID 19, specifically the delta variant.
Please make mask wearing mandatory for all teachers, staff and students, regardless of vaccination status. An educated recommendation by our top physicians and scientists should be enough and a mandate should not be necessary to put these precautions into place.
