SAVE THE BONT

I the undersigned oppose plans to grant planning permission for significant new housing developments in and around the village of Pontarddulais.
I firmly believe that the concerns highlighted within the community regarding the infrastructure, environmental impact, capacity of the schools and medical facilities and the effect on traffic outweigh any case for development. Pontarddulais has the second highest percentage of Welsh speaking residents in Swansea and a mass influx of population will dilute this important part of our Welsh heritage. There is a vast amount of precious wildlife that will be destroyed and driven out by the loss of their habitat. RED KITES, BUZZARDS,KESTRELS, BATS, BADGERS and HEDGEHOGS are just some of the creatures known to be living locally.
If we do not encourage and educate our children to love and protect nature and all forms of wildlife, then the next generation will not be concerned with preserving the environment. They will have total disregard for the absolute destruction of native species of every kind.
I believe there have been serious democratic flaws in the local consultation process as carried out by Swansea City Council, resulting in the views of the local community not being properly represented and accounted for. I call for a complete review into the key stakeholder consultation process as undertaken by Swansea City Council to date, as I believe there are significant flaws with the evidence that has been collected.
