We are the owner of Slate Café, situated at corner of Marshall Road and Dulwich Street, Bennett Springs.
We received a letter from City of Swan council regarding to CPB Contractor’s application to:
Fully close east end of Marshall Road between Lord Street and Cheltenham Street.
Limited access to local resident and business only at west end of Marshall Road at Marshall Road / Altone Road intersection.
· Slate Café business relies on passing traffic on Marshall Road to bring its customers and business. The closure of Marshall Road will effectively cut-off the daily passing traffic, and ultimately adversely impact Slate Café business. Slate Café business cannot sustain without customers, and ultimately will be closed if financial losses become unbearable to its owners. There are lots of examples where local businesses must shut down due to impact of infrastructure construction works. The recent examples are businesses at Scarborough Beach precincts.
· The closing of Slate Café will have big impact to livelihood of its fulltime and casual staff, many of them are local resident.
· The closing of Slate Café will impact to the nearby local residents where Slate Café has been chosen as their meeting points and socialising, while their children can enjoy the outdoor in a safe environment
