Help eliminate ocean plastics in Australia

Help eliminate ocean plastics in Australia

The issue

Every year 1.2 million tonnes of plastic are dumped in to the surrounding oceans of Australia. If we continue at this rate there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish by 2050.

At times the condition of the water has been so bad people have been unable to surf or swim at the beach because of pollution. Ocean pollution will soon even affect our countries drinking water as most plastics have multiple toxic elements to them when consumed.

Companies like Sea Shepherd are trying their best to help reduce the effects but we are not doing enough, fish are dying and nothing is changing.

Our petition is all about helping stop this pollution and making Australia safer for the fish in our oceans and the people swimming. If we can't make a change then we will at least want to raise awareness for this topic to ensure people have this on their minds. It is something that needs to change and that is more than just picking up rubbish you find.

If you sign this petition you are helping raise the awareness of how big this problem  really is and how much it will affect us if we don't make a change. Our petition only needs 1 signature to be eligible, but as soon as we hit roughly 10,000 signatures it will become visible to the government and is likely to be voted on. While this may seem like a large number, the problem is just as large and will have a larger affect on society.

Our ministers are not doing enough to stop Australia's most beautiful beaches getting ruined by pollution, something must change.
