GP After Hours Access is a vital after hours service for the residents of the Hunter Region. It provides much needed advice for people needing medical attention and helps to ease the pressure on our already overloaded Hospital Emergency Departments. Hunter Residents can call the service in times when their local GP is not open and access sound medical advice from Registered Nurses and Doctors, and access after hours medical appointments should it be necessary. 

At the date of this petition, 14/05/15 Federal Minister for Health Sussan Ley has not confirmed funding for this vital service to continue to operate past the 30th June 2015. If you have ever used this service, or a similar service whether you are a Hunter resident or not, we ask you to call on Sussan Ley and Tony Abbott to fund this vital service and give the Hunter Region access to high quality, after hours medical care. There are 250 jobs at stake here and if it can happen to a service that provides vital medical services to a large region like the Hunter, it can happen to your local After Hours GP service too.
