“Suspend the MEI Elephant Relocation Operation and Protect Elephant Habitats in Sri Lanka”
The Issue
This is regarding the operation currently being conducted against elephants under the MEI operation in the Hambantota region. This operation has been ongoing for 21 days, and this area is not safe for the elephants. The measures taken during this relocation put the lives of over 300 elephants at risk.
We, "Voice of Bhathiya" undersigned, respectfully call upon His Excellency the President of Sri Lanka and the Ministry of Wildlife and Forest Resources Conservation to immediately suspend the MEI operation and to ensure that all future elephant management programs are guided by scientific research, transparency, and compassion.
Sri Lanka’s elephants are a vital part of our national heritage and ecological balance. Their protection is not only a moral responsibility but also essential for the sustainable future of our environment.
Let us act now to safeguard these majestic animals and preserve the natural harmony of our land.
