Suspend Purchase of F35 Fighter Jets from USA

Suspend Purchase of F35 Fighter Jets from USA
The Issue
Last year The Government of Canada finalized an agreement with the U.S. government and Lockheed Martin to acquire 88 F-35 Lightning II fighter jets for the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF).
This will cost 19 Billion Canadian Dollars with first deliveries to begin in 2026
We propose to SUSPEND this purchase until Tarrifs are removed from Canadian imports into USA.
If tarrifs are not removed, then other Fighter Jets such as Dassault Rafale and Eurofighter Typhoon should be considered instead.
In the longer term, Canadian jet makers such as Bombardier should be incentivised to partner with European Fighter Jet development programme to develop local Fighter Jet building capabilities in Canada.
