We, the residents of Waltham Forest, are deeply concerned about the actions and decisions made by our local councillor Kira Lewis. The lack of compassion and unity in her public statements has led to a growing distrust among constituents. This petition seeks to suspend Councillor Lewis until a thorough investigation into her conduct can be completed.

The war between Israel and Gaza has been a heart breaking issue for many of us living in Waltham Forest. We have looked to our political leaders for support and solidarity and have found it in Council Leader Grace Williams and our local MP Stella Creasy. However, inflammatory, ignorant and inhumane comments made by Cllr Kira Lewis has encouraged division and threats amongst our community. Such behavior is not only detrimental to our community but also undermines the democratic values that we hold dear.

The Local Government Association's Code of Conduct states that councillors must "behave in such a way that a reasonable person would regard as respectful" (Local Government Association). It is clear from this action  that Councillor Lewis has failed to adhere to these standards.

We believe it is crucial for our representatives to uphold the highest standards of integrity and responsibility. As such, we call upon the relevant authorities to suspend Councillor Kira Lewis pending an investigation into her conduct.
