We call on the UK Government to suspend financial payments to the French Government connected with preventing migration across the English Channel, review and terminate the current UK-France migration arrangements, and introduce substantially stricter controls on immigration from France.

The continuing arrival of small boats across the English Channel is a serious concern to many people in the United Kingdom. We believe the Government should take stronger measures to prevent irregular migration and ensure that UK taxpayers’ money is used effectively.

We therefore call on the Government to:

● End UK payments to France specifically intended to support Channel migration enforcement until all illegal crossings are achieved.

● Suspend the current UK-France migration agreements.

● Strengthen measures to prevent people departing from the French coast in small boats and ensure that people attempting to make an illegal Channel crossing are not permitted to establish a route to permanent residence in the UK simply by making the crossing.

● Publish regular, transparent figures showing the amount of UK taxpayers’ money that has been provided to France; the number of crossing attempts prevented, the number of boats seized, and the number of people returned to France.

● Establish clear performance targets for any future financial cooperation with France and suspend funding where those targets are not met.

● Deploy the Navy to the English Channel and instruct them to turn around any boats back to where they came from

● Suspend all free handouts to to those who are entering this country illegally.

We recognise that France is undertaking enforcement activity against small-boat crossings - but it is not enough! However, we believe the continued crossings demonstrate that the current approach requires substantially greater scrutiny and that the UK Government should prioritise stronger border controls and value for money for UK taxpayers. We believe that that by allowing immigration from France to continue, the French Government will remain complicit in watching as boats are leaving their shores. It is now well documented that there are camps with hundreds, probably thousands of migrants in Calais and the surrounding areas ready with life jackets and boats waiting to come to the UK! 

Hundreds and thousands of undocumented illegal immigrants, predominantly fighting aged man are invading our country. Our women and children are in danger. We simply cannot allow this to continue!
