As some of you may be aware, Mr. Larraux will not be returning next year due to teacher lay-offs.  The structure of the policy with the SUSD and teacher's union is unfortunately based on seniority and temporary contracts of which apply to Mr.Larraux.

For those that have been fortunate enough to have had Mr. Larraux, you understand the implications of losing a wonderful teacher.  For those that have not, we sincerely hope the district will do everything possible so you will share the experience in the years to come.  

Mr. Larraux is beyond a 2nd grade teacher.  He has brought enthusiasm, energy, competence, and dedication to our school, district, and most importantly our children.   His passion for teaching has resonated to his colleagues, parents, and students.  He has had such an impact he was voted 2015-16 "Teacher of the Year" his first year at Saratoga Elementary School.  

As a group of parents that are frustrated and perplexed with the process and posibilites of losing a teacher of Mr. Larraux's caliber we are reaching out.  We would like to see the district retain him in any capacity for the 2016-17 year.  We have scheduled a meeting with SUSD Board representatives, Superintendent-Nancy Johnson, Principals, SEF, PTA, and parent representatives.  The goal and purpose of this meeting is to reiterate why we need teachers like Mr. Larraux and the options to retain him.  Mr. Larraux’s situation is on an urgent timeline as his contract is complete at the end of this week and has already received offers from neighboring districts.  

This petition is specifically about retaining Mr. Larraux but leads to a bigger issue of retaining teachers that have a true passion, drive, and skill for educating our children in the most well rounded way.
