Keep NM in the enhanced nursing compact

New Mexico is experiencing a huge nursing shortage which is about to get much worse. New Mexico relies heavily on traveler nurse to combate the nursing shortage. So far NM is not participating in the eNLC. This means that travelers that are wanting to practice in NM will have to go through the headache of getting a New Mexican license and renewing it. As a future nurse myself I would much rather go to a different state that doesn’t require an additional license such as those that participate in the eNLC. This means that we are going to see a reduction of traveling nurses in NM and an increase in the nursing shortage. This will also affect nurses whose jobs require them to care for patients across state lines such as flight nurses and telephone health. In essence this means that a flight nurse in NM can not take a patient across state lines because the nurse license is not valid in other states. This also will affect aspects of care such as our nurse hotline. I know as a mother there have been numerous times I have needed to get someone else’s opinion on my child’s health. A lot of the nurses that participate in those services are in other states.

Please stand with me and ask our government to allow NM to participate in the eNLC.

By signing this you are asking the NM government to participate in eNLC.
