Boycott Maine companies if Sen. Susan Collins confirms SCOTUS justice before Nov. election

0 have signed. Let’s get to 100!

We, the undersigned, promise to boycott any Maine business until after the 2020 election if Senator Susan Collins votes to confirm anyone to the U.S. Supreme Court prior to the next Congress being sworn in in 2019. These businesses include:

Maine lobsters
L.L. Bean
Hannaford Supermarkets
Cherryfield Foods, including Maine Wild Blueberry Co.
Barber Foods
Hannaford Brothers markets
Weathervane Seafood Restaurants
CN Brown Energy, including Big Apple stores
Shipyard Brewing Co.
VIP Tires and Service
Marden’s stores
Dead River energy heating oil
Maine medical services, including IDEXX veterinarian supplies
Maine colleges and universities

In 2016, the Republican-controlled U.S. Senate refused to even have hearings on President Obama’s choice for the U.S. Supreme Court. Their excuse was that 2016 was an election year. 2018 is also an election year, yet Pres. Trump and the Republicans, with only 51 votes in the Senate, are trying to ram through another Supreme Court appointment, over the opposition of the Democrats. There are currently four sure votes to overturn or greatly restrict Roe v. Wade, and to make abortion illegal again in most states. If the American people want that, they can vote to keep the Republican majority in the Senate; if they want to preserve women’s right to choose and other rights, including birth control and gay marriage, they will vote for a Democratic majority. The Democrats need one Republican Senator to join them and vote to postpone the appointment until after the November elections. Senator Susan Collins should cast that vote, since she says she is pro-choice. A promised boycott of Maine businesses will put political pressure on Senator Collins to do the right thing.
