We, the road users of Surrey are paying more in fuel tax, road tax and Council Tax than ever before. Yet the appalling state of the roads is unprecedented. The number and severity of serious potholes, coupled with the appalling condition of many major roads, where large sections of the tarmac top layer have just disappeared, is unacceptable. The risk of serious or even fatal injury to cyclists and motorcyclists; the potential for damage to wheels and tyres on vehicles; the premature wear and tear to vehicle suspension and the cost to the council (and ultimately the ratepayer) for compensation claims can no longer be tolerated.

Proposed Actions

1. Crews (hit squads) out daily repairing these holes . Small potholes repaired quickly would stop them becoming large potholes and hence large problems.  

2. Creation of a "Pothole Hotline" where the most serious ones can be reported, logged and the information sent straight to the repair crews.

Surrey County Council please act now to stop this year on year  deterioration to our roads and the misery it causes.
