The existing railway line between Bangalore - chittoor via katpadi is a very long route. It is a circuitous route covering Bangalore - bangarpet  - jollarpet - katpadi - chittoor and the total distance is 270kms. This can be reduced to 170 -180kms by laying a new line between bangalore - chittoor via kolar , mulbhagal , palamaner. This new route helps a lot to long run trains going towards Tirupathi , vijayawada, Amaravathi, Bhubhaneshwar and Howrah.

The distance reduced will be about 80-90 kms. A new line 120 km long is to be formed for direct link from Bangalore to Chittoor or  Bangarpet to Chittoor .By this new route is possible to reduce the journey time by one hour 30 minutes which attract a lot pilgrims going to tirupathi to use the railway mode instead of the tedious and risky road journey.
