The Curzon Bridge over the river Ganges and the Allahabad-Faizabad Railway opened in 1905, operated then by the Oudh and Rohilkhand Railway, and providing a direct link from Allahbad to Lucknow and the hill stations beyond.

It is a historical site and a Landmark which every citizen of Allahabad is proud of. It is frequently used by two wheeler and Pedestrian commuters, especially during the annual Magh Mela and World renowned Kumbh Mela.

As per the news in Dainik Jagran, dated 28th February 2017, Curzon Bridge is to be dismantled and auctioned as Scrap by the Indian Railway Authorities.

We, the people of Allahabad, request you to intervene and STOP THIS MAGNIFICENT LANDMARK FROM BEING DESTROYED . The heritage, history and pride of this Bridge is way more important than any amount of money that may come from selling it as scrap. THE HERITAGE, THE HISTORY AS WELL AS THE PRIDE OF ALLAHABAD, CANNOT AND SHOULD NOT, BE DESTROYED.
