Reusable Supreme Bags

Every year about 8-million tons of plastic ends up in our oceans. This is equal to five bags filled with plastic going along every foot of coastline in the world, most of which are single use products like plastic bags.

Tens of thousands of whales, birds, seals,  turtles and, many more aquatic life are killed every year from plastic bag waste in the marine environment as they often mistake plastic bags for food such as jellyfish. Plastic bags, once ingested, cannot be digested or passed by an animal so it stays in the gut. As plastic bags can take up to 1,000 years to break down, once an animal dies and decays after ingesting plastic, the plastic is then freed back into the marine environment to carry on killing other wildlife.

Supreme is an American skateboarding shop and clothing brand. The brand produces clothes and accessories and also manufactures skateboards. They sell thousands of items a year. Every one of those are delivered in a plastic bag. Whether it’s an online order or an in-store pickup, they put your items in a thick white plastic bag with their red box logo on it. Handing out bags to customers who buy in store is understandable. A customer needs something to buy their newly purchased goods in. However what’s the need of putting items in a plastic bag and then in a shipping box? There’s no need. Supreme hands out thousands of unneeded bags each year. Upon receiving their item customers just throw away the bag along with the shipping box as it serves no use to them. THIS CAN BE CHANGED.

I propose an idea that Supreme starts sending out their items in reusable natural fibre bags. A similar streetwear company Palace already does and I think it would benefit supreme and the environment greatly.

These bags could have designs on them and the design could change for every drop season. They could be a collectors item. This benefits Supreme, consumers and the reselling community.

This petition will not only try and make this idea a reality, but it will be a step towards a brighter future in hopes of other companies doing the same. Sign the petition, show your support, gain attention & share.
