In just a few weeks, the Supreme Court is preparing to hear arguments that could rip away one of the most fundamental rights in our country — the right of any child born on U.S. soil to be recognized as an American.

Since the 14th Amendment was ratified after the Civil War, birthright citizenship has guaranteed that every child born in the United States,  regardless of their parents’ status, is a full and equal citizen. It’s a principle rooted in equality, dignity, and fairness. It has shaped generations of Americans, including the children of immigrants who have grown up to serve this country in every possible way.

Now, with the stroke of a pen and a wave of fear, President Trump is trying to erase that right, targeting children, families, and the very foundation of what it means to be American.

This executive order is cruel, unconstitutional, and part of a long, calculated attack on immigrant communities.

The Supreme Court must not be complicit in this. It must uphold the Constitution, respect precedent, and protect the future of every child born under the flag of this country.
