STAND UP! for meritorious Doctors in Govt"s desperate move to implement 64.5% reservation.

The Issue

In August 2021 , Government of INDIA announced extra 37% reservation one month before NEETPG exam, making it to the total of 64.5% reservation, which has lead to the unreserved category Doctors protesting all over the country right now.

And this announcement was just one month before exams. They slashed half the 6.5k seats available to the open category. Now open category has 3.5k seats from total of 9.5k seats and everyone takes seats from this category UR, OBC, SC/ST, EWS, PWD etc. constricting the actual seats available to merit holding general category to even less than 30%.

NEETPG is the exam for MBBS doctors to get into their respective specialities(PG courses). One of the most competitive exam of this country  and this exam is giving approx 70% reservation to students with the "right caste".

Even one undeserved candidate in this exam can harm the nation but the Govt. seems bothered by nothing but the caste. we need to raise the question as to why are they doing this??? Why this desperation a month before exam?? For votes or do they have some other plan that justifies not letting meritorious doctors from studying the course of their choice??

The exact issues we are trying to raise are:

1.64.5% reservation is extremely dangerous to the standards of medical community and healthcare of INDIA.Imagine entering a govt hospital and knowing that 70% doctors are there on reserved seats!!

2.Meritorious doctors are being ignored by the system and eventually going to lead to them moving out of the country and we are going to be the one responsible for this brain drain.

3.Its true that every reserved candidate is not incompetent, but the point here is for every reserved candidate(except top rankers of course), there are 100s of better unreserved category students, who are being out rightly ignored because they don"t have the right caste.

4.After 75 years of independence, country needs sudden implementation of 27%OBC and 10%EWS, makes you question the efficacy and the real motive behind this reservation policy itself.

5.Central govt has set the EWS criteria as 8 lakhsperyear...which amounts to 66,000 approx per month all over INDIA . And when the Hon'ble Supreme court tried to question them over this, center replies by saying" the court should not have opinions over matters like these"

6.The addition of excessive 37% reservation policy was introduced a month before exam making total to 64.5%...which means unreserved seats reduced to half, many top colleges of the country now have ZERO seats in certain departments. Aren"t top rankers atleast eligible for these seats....has reservation for OBC and EWS become so important suddenly?? or is it the vote bank politics talking??

7.NEET SS (superspeciality) was kept out of the reservation policy because the court felt reservations in specialists courses will effect the efficacy of the doctors.
Doctors after getting into NEET PG also go and serve the community as specialists(paediatricians, surgeons, orthopaedicians,ENT surgeons, ophthalmologists, psychiatrist and others)
ISNT THE EFFICACY BEING COMPROMISED HERE????

A reserved candidate on 10000 rank is getting a seat in a top college, which a Unreserved candidate on 1000 rank does not. Many meritorious doctors are being flushed out of the system and reserved candidates preferred for all the good colleges and institutions. This is going to compromise nations healthcare intensively and medical education in INDIA will end up losing its credibility along with the faith people have in Doctors working day and night to serve the nation.

This morally wrong and corrupt act of implementing  excessive 27%OBC and 10%EWS (poorly established criterias) needs to be protested right now. We should not let the doctors who are going to serve the country tomorrow go through the mental agony of being thrown out irrespective of their merit .Or else few years down the line we will have to pay a heavy price for this.

This is the humble request to every person reading this article, INDIAN OR NOT.Please come forward and sign this petition in high numbers. Its now a question of Right to education to a student holding merit and not the right caste.
