Reservation System in Chartered Accountancy Course

Reservation System in Chartered Accountancy Course
The Issue
A Group of Chartered Accountants submitted application to introduce reservation system under CA course for Minority and Backward casts.
As per information, the proposal was also submitted to Supreme court of India under PIL.
The Proposal also submitted to Central Government of India.
Fortunately, there is no such reservation system in CA Course. One can become a member purely on merit basis that is the best part about it.
ICAI is not a government institution, instead it has been set up under a special Act of Parliament. Hence the reservation compulsion do not apply to it.
I myself believe that the reservation should be need based and not caste based. That is why ICAI provides different fees concession for various category of students. Any SC, ST or OBC student will have the same passing criterion as the general student and this is the only reason that only deserving candidates qualify the exams.
The course does not need any reservations because unlike other courses you do not need huge monetary investments which is usually a set back for socially backward and economically weaker sections of society. All you need to do, to become a chartered accountant is invest your time, and have the zeal inside you to become better and learn something new every single day.
